My First Time   A Girlfriend Tried To Kill Herself

Friday Evening
Authored by: stella

We went out for drinks with friends. We got drunk. She told me, that once on a business trip that she cheated on me. I was devastated. We were at my house, it was late and I just told her to go to bed and we would talk about it the morning.

The next morning we broke up. She left.

Later that same night, I got a call from her roommate and she told me that my girlfriend took a punch of pills and realized in her desperation that she had a made a tremendous mistake and needed to be taken to the hospital. A million thoughts rushed into my head. What do I do? Who do I call? How do I act? I had no answer to these questions. "Is she O.K. I asked." , Yes, "O.k. I will meet you at the hospital."

As I was driving down to the hospital, I couldn't believe the situation that I was in. I couldn't believe the situation that she was in! How could this be happening? In a million years, I never thought that this would happen to me.

I arrived at the hospital and her roommate was there waiting for me. She told me that she was going to be alright. "They pumped her stomach", she told me. I was listening, I knew what that meant, but it all seemed so surreal. I felt so bad for my poor girlfriend. What a horrible experience that must have been for her. I felt guilty. I felt hurt. I felt mad. But, most importantly I felt relieved that she was o.k.

I sat with her at the bedside all night with her and just held her hand. The next day we left the hospital and worked things out. She got some help. We never got back together, but we are still close friends today.

Thank you for sharing this story. I really understand the feeling of not really understanding what was going on around you. Very surreal...
